Galen Bryne was excited to begin his journey to be a great pokemon gym leader like his father before him. He had left the region where his father and mother held the title of Gym Leader as he did not wish to constantly be in the shadow of his father's pokemon training nor did he wish to have any 'hand outs' given to him because he was his father's kid. Dregga was a surprisingly interesting place to begin a journey as well; it had a special 'Gym Training' program that was unlike any other region that Galen had been to throughout his career.
Coming to this region, Galen hoped to inquire and fulfill these requirements to be a resident gym leader in this region. Before all this however, he journeyed through Popilu town in search of the pokemon laboratory. If he could find the resident pokemon professor he could become registered and start his journey. Of course, it would also give him some time to observe the natural pokemon who lived in this region.

As you walked around looking for the lab you realised the sun was shining brightly and the park seemed to be radiating a upbeat feeling. You also saw that there were many monkey based pokemon such as Mankey, panpour, and aipom jumping around from tree to tree.
It didn't take too long for you to find a sign which pointed out where the three most important buildings in the town were. The top of it pointed to the pokemon lab, the middle of it pointed to the breeding centre and the final one pointed to the gym trainee centre. What would you do?

Galen stopped and read the sign, this was definitely different for him. He didn't know there was a separate building or entity to becoming a Gym Leader. Since Gym Leaders themselves worked in accordance with Pokemon League guidelines he always assumed them to be one and the same. Now however, he thought that the pokemon gym leaders commission was some sort of subsidiary of the Pokemon League.
Figuring he could always go to get his pokemon from the professor later, he ventured to the Pokemon Gym Trainee building first not knowing that this building would give him the pokemon he would need to begin his journey to becoming a gym leader in the first place.
While on his way, he continued to observe the pig-monkey pokemon as they swung from the trees in blissful unawareness.

As you continued your journey down the path towards the gym centre you saw that the mankey had now climbed to the top of a tree and jumped off hitting the ground in the park with a thud before stamping on both feet screaming "Mankey Mankey!" like a proud pokemon.
The other Monkey pokemon kept going on the trees around the park in circles like they were chasing each other. When you turned your attention back to the route you realised that there were many people passing you on the street, some said good morning while others walked straight and after 5 minutes of walking you had finally arrived by the gym centre.
You could peep in and see the front desk, which had forms on it. You could also see their were plants around the room as well as a few couches and a screen above the front desk. You also saw the secretary by the front desk who looked like a nurse joy but you could see she wasn't. She looked about 30 yeas old to you.

Galen approached the front desk and took one of the forms that said 'Gym Trainee Applications'. He took a pen and began filling out the form at the front desk, eyeing the nurse-joy look-alike from time to time as he continued filling out the form. After the form was all filled out, he handed it over to the woman behind the desk.
"Is this all I need to do to become a Gym Trainee?" Inquired Galen to the woman. He was nervous about the situation, this wasn't at all what he expected to happen but such was life sometimes. He still expected her to approve the application then send an e-mail to the Pokemon Professor to expect him but it didn't really seem like that would happen at the moment.

After you filled out the forms the woman took your paper and scanned it. "Hold on for a second." She said as she adjusted a camera and took a picture of you. She then began leading you into the back room. Once you had passed through the door you ended up walking down a long corridor with only a few doors. She then opened the Last door which had the word flying on the door. As you went in you saw a man that looked in his mid 30s asleep on the floor. The Secretary did a small face palm before waking over to the man and delivering a hard slap to the man that sounded to you like it could be heard by the entire Popilu town. "Ow!" The man said as he got up rubbing his cheek. He then looked up to not only see the secretary but you and quickly jumped up off the floor and ran into a side door within the room. After about a minute he came out and looked as fresh as ever. The secretary then took her leave. "Well young sir, I welcome you to the Gym trainee flying course!" He said as he began waving his arms like a bird flapping his wings. "I am the guy in charge of giving you your first pokemon as well as a flying type trainer myself. Anyway here are your choices!" He said as he threw three Pokeballs in his hand up into the air. Before you stood  lv10 Gender: male Ability: Keen eye Nature:Sassy  lv10 Gender: Female Ability: Honey Gather Nature:Lonely  lv10 Gender: Female Ability:Unburden Nature:Gentle Which of these 3 pokemon would be your first partner? |

"How interesting." Galen mused as the three pokemon emerged from their pokeballs. All of them were interesting but Galen already knew that he was going to be using "Starly" He stated plainly. Because it was a male however, the nickname he thought of on the way over here would not work as well. He would have to come up with a new nickname for his little flying pokemon acquaintance. It seemed to be full of sass and might have some attitude toward other pokemon. "I think I'll call you, Ringo Starr." Galen mused aloud
With that, the decision was made, a Starly named Ringo Starr who was sassy and ready for action! Undoubtedly this would be the start of a very interesting journey.
"Is there anything else I should know before I get going?" Inquired Galen Bryne as he approached his new flying pokemon companion.

The starly chirped loudly as you chose it and flew towards you before perching on your shoulder. However as you looked up and asked the man a if there was anything else you needed to know his face turned completely serious.
"We lovers of flying type pokemon have it bad in dregga." He began "You see, we cannot challenge the first two gyms in dregga even though we can find many flying type Pokemon before then because flying beats both bug and fighting types. however the third gym all the way on the peak of Frostpeak mountain uses ice types which beat us making it difficult for us to gain a gym using his gym." The man paused before going back to his normal look and scratching his head.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to explain the basic things. To become a gym leader you need to first own 3 or more flying type pokemon, Then you must defeat a gym leader who you are either type disadvantaged against including if they resist flying or if they are on even footing with you such as a fire or water gym. Then you must find a town either with a gym trainee already there or an unoccupied one and defeat the trainer their to build your own gym or take over the gym from the previous trainee" The man finished. He then pointed you in the direction of the secretary before going back to lying down on the floor.

"That seems easy enough." Galen admitted softly with a curious stare at the man who had ended up back on the floor somehow. It seemed that there was nothing left for him here so Galen decided it was time for him to take his leave.
As he was walking back out the front door of the Gym Trainee Centre, he remembered the mankey that was jumping around infront of him earlier and swung from the trees almost following him to the center. As he pondered this, he thought about making that mankey the first addition to his new team of pokemon. Being a fighting type it would have an advantage over rock-type pokemon which was one of flying type pokemon's principle weaknesses.
"Ringo, I have an idea for our first companion." Galen stated with a small smirk forming on his lips. While flying type pokemon were indeed Galen's favourite type of pokemon he never turned down the opportunity to diversify himself or his team. Even if when he took the gym challenge to defeat someone, whether he'd have to use only flying type pokemon for his challenge or not; while traveling he wanted to have a diverse team of pokemon as he never knew what he would find on his journey.

As you exited the gym trainee centre in search of the mankey you manage to see a woman in a white coat who looked fairly young. She saw you with the starly and quickly walked over to you.
"Hello there young man my name is Juniper, Professor Juniper and i am the professor of the dregga region. I'm usually in my lab but there is a pokemon being a little obnoxious in the breeding centre and I was asked to come and calm it however since your doing the gym trainee program that means you are capable of helping out the breeding centre would you please help?" She said as she stared into your eyes as if she was asking from the bottom of her heart with pure sincerity.
While she was doing this however you saw a man pass with a sign in his hand which stated "Popilu town Monkey pokemon reserve, catching is prohibited." The man looked angry as he was putting down the sign next to the park before going back out.
You wondered why the man looked so angry to be doing a job for his town however you had a decision to make, help out the professor or continue on your merry way? What would you do?

It seemed that the plans for the mankey would have had to be put on hold indefinitely as the blond haired individual looked at the sign that was being put down in the middle of the town. That was truly unfortunate but it was easy to understand why novice trainers would want to catch the abundance of monkey pokemon in the preserve, especially when they had just gotten their first pokemon. They were an abundance of types that could be used with any starter presumably. Pansage, Pansear and Panpour were grass, fire and water respectively which could compliment any of the standard starters while mankey was a very good, quick fighting type pokemon and aipom was a decent normal-type pokemon. Altogether with a starter, it seemed that a novice could fulfill their team with a well-rounded balance just based on the common monkey pokemon here.
"Yes, a Gym Leader is supposed to help where they can to preserve the balance between man and pokemon as well as assist police in pokemon-related affairs." Galen Bryne replied to the professor. "I'll be glad to assist you in any way I can." Galen nodded firmly. No matter the task it would be a good way for him to test out his new Starly if there was battling involved. If there wasn't battling involved, he could deepen the bond with his pokemon through the task ahead.
"So, what exactly is the problem?" Galen inquired.

She smiled with you before grabbing you hand and pulling you towards the breeding centre. It didn't take you to long to arrive as it was right across the street from the gym trainee centre which was right next to the exit of the town. As you got closer to the breeding centre you began hearing a lot of noise which sounded like things breaking as well as people screaming in pain. When you arrived at the door and the professor opened it a  came flying towards you. Without a second thought you caught the pokemon in your hand. The bird pokemon looked up to you and began chirping happily, it seemed to like you a lot. The men from the breeding centre came out, they looked terrible. The faces were scratched up and many of the cases which they used to put the eggs in were also broken. Their clothes were torn and it looked like the torchic had brought them through hell. One man walked up to you "Please sir please, take that pokemon with you it doesn't listen to any of us and it seems to like you and we also need to clean up the place and ourselves before any other trainers come here." The man said desperately. The professor looked at the situation smiled and then quickly left the scene. What would you do now? |

"This is another bird pokemon, of course I'll take it with me. You didn't mean any harm did you?" Galen mused as he petted the flame bird atop its head. "I suppose if you're coming with me I should give you a nickname though."
After some pondering, Galen finally came up with a name, "I'll call you Ken since when you evolve you'll be a combusken and then a blaziken. I think the name fits, what do you think Ken?" Inquired the blond haired blue-eyed trainer to the small bird pokemon. Torchic and its evolutions were one of the pokemon Galen always wanted to train. Like Piplup, Torchic had the odd trait of being a bird pokemon but not being a flying type pokemon. Instead, Torchic was a pure fire type that actually became a fighting type when it evolved.
"Well this is good, it seems that we did get another pokemon on our team after all." Galen mused to Ringo Starr who was still perched upon his shoulder. However, while Galen was here, he wondered if he could perhaps, like the other trainers get a pokemon egg to carry with him on his journey.
"I can stay and help you guys clean up." Galen offered to the men of the breeding centre, an extra pair of hands could be useful as no one knew when the next trainer would appear to receive their egg from the centre.

Ken, as you now called the torchic celebrated as it was nicknamed. The men at the breeding centre were amazed at how fast the torchic's personality had shifted back into its normal relaxed way. However not too long after one of the men looked at you strangely before returning to his work.
When you decided to ask to help the men with the clean up the men just shook their heads saying no. "You helped us out a lot already oh wait", the man said as he looked at your gym trainee ID "Galen!" the man said as he rushed to the back and soon returned with two eggs.
"On behalf of the breeding centre and as our way of saying thanks please take these two eggs!" The man said you could see he was very happy to be handing over the eggs. The other men continued to clean up the breeding centre and at the rate they were going it wouldn't take them that much longer so it looked like your assistance in the matter of helping to clean up was not needed.
What would you do now?

Galen accepted the eggs graciously and thanked the workers at the breeding center. He wasn't sure what kind of pokemon were in the eggs but he knew that at the very least it would bring him closer to his dream of running a pokemon gym in this region. As he exited the Breeding center with two pokemon in tow and two eggs accompanying them, Galen Bryne stared at the sign prohibiting the catching of the local wildlife. It certainly would have diversified his team.
"Oh well." Galen mused softly to himself and began to walk toward the large city looming in the distance. He wasn't sure what awaited him on his journey but he hoped to make friends on his way both human and pokemon.
